In a shocking move, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to dissolve the all-powerful Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) on Thursday for conflict of interest.
CIC chief Lalchand Rajput and member Sameer Dighe had informed the MCA about their conflict of interest prior to their appointment, but the association still decided to go ahead with it. &nbsp;
On Thursday, MCA secretary Sanjay Naik and joint secretary Shahalam Shaikh shot off a letter to the CIC, stating the committee is dissolved. &ldquo;We have to inform you that on 9-12-20 honorable Supreme Court of India disposed off the Interlocutory Application filed by MCA without granting any reliefs including conflict of interest.
Thereafter, the General Body of the association has authorised the Apex Council to appoint all the cricket committees subject to Conflict of Interest compliances. Subsequently, the Apex Council at its meeting held on January 28, 2021 authorised the office-bearers to take the call on the cricket committees.
&ldquo;The office-bearers recognise your immense contribution and your tireless efforts towards Mumbai cricket. However, pursuant to the above, the office-bearers decided that the CIC stands dissolved with immediate effect,&rdquo; the letter stated. &nbsp;
MCA officials and the CIC have been at loggerheads since the coach appointment for the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Meanwhile, MCA members have submitted a requisition to call for a special Annual General Body meeting to clip secretary Naik&rsquo;s powers.
In another development, Mumbai&rsquo;s U-19 selector Deepak Jadhav resigned from his position on Thursday to avoid conflict of interest accusations since his brother&rsquo;s son is one of the contenders for the Mumbai U-19 team.
