Most probably, you are being duped into buying a fake. On Friday, the police and officials of the Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rightsu00a0 (EIPR), a private intelligence agency, arrested a shopkeeper from Manhattan mall, Faridabad, for selling counterfeit shirts. Charanjeet Singh, 60, the owner of a shop named Tantrum at the mall, was caught selling fakes of branded shirts at very cheap rates. According to the police, Singh was purchasing low-end products from a dealer at Sadar Bazaar. "He was using fake labels on shirts and selling them at very cheap rates to dupe brand-conscious buyers," said Sanjiv Kumar, a sub-inspector at the Sector 16 police station in Faridabad. He is also the investigating officer of the case. The police said the accused sold duplicates of all premium brands between Rs 350 and 500. "We are on the lookout for the man who sold the shirts to Singh. We have filed a case and investigations are on," said Kumar. The police have registered a case under Sections 420 of the IPC and 63 of the Copyright Act.
