<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/sharad-pawar-articles" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar</a> on Wednesday expressed confidence that his party will return to power in Maharashtra after the upcoming state assembly elections. Sharad Pawar, per the PTI report, was speaking to farmers in Nira Wagaj village in Baramati.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Reportedly, Sharad Pawar assured farmers that his party would address their issues once they come back to power.&nbsp;</p>
<p>"Both the governments (at the Centre and state) are not ruled by us. But (state) elections are round the corner. We have seen how work was done in the Lok Sabha polls. If such work is repeated in the state assembly elections, I cannot see how the reins of state government will not come into our hands," Pawar said per the news agency report.&nbsp;</p>
<p>"All the issues of farmers can be resolved if the power of the state government comes into our hands," he added.</p>
<p>According to the report,&nbsp;Pawar also expressed alarm over water pollution in the Nira River, blaming sugar industries for the poisoning. He agreed to discuss the problem with both state and federal governments.</p>
<p>In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the Congress gained 13 of Maharashtra's 48 seats, up from only one in 2019. The Shiv Sena (UBT) secured nine seats, while the NCP (SP) won eight. The Shiv Sena (UBT) contested 21 seats, Congress 17, and the NCP (SP) 10.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-tmc-seeks-probe-into-stock-market-manipulation-ncp-sp-backs-demand-23354664" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Nationalist Congress Party (NCP - SP) chief Sharad Pawar</a> on Tuesday, per a PTI report, stated that in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections 2024, Maharashtra voters sent a message throughout the country that the state's atmosphere was changing.</p>
<p>"In the recently-concluded Lok Sabha polls, we (NCP-SP) contested only 10 seats. But by electing eight out of these 10 candidates, the people of the state sent out a message across the country that the atmosphere of the state is changing," he said while interacting with farmers at Nimbut village in Baramati tehsil.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Sharad Pawar stated that, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) held the reins of power in the state, evaluating public opinion throughout the poll campaign revealed that a different outcome was on the way.</p>

<p>"Those in power (in the state) lost 31 seats and the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/no-question-of-taking-back-rebels-says-sharad-pawar-23354265" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)</a>&nbsp;got success on that many seats," he said.</p>
