In the aftermath of a fatal shooting at a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/search/Delhi-Crime-articles" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">salon in Delhi's Najafgarh</a>, police has made headway in the investigation by identifying the assailants.
Quoting sources, newswire PTI reported that the attackers were suspected to have been involved in a dispute with the accused over a social media post.
They said the two accused have been identified as Sanjeev Dahiya alias Sanju and Harsh alias Chintu, who shot Ashish and Sonu dead at Najafgarh's Indira Park on Friday. The victims had gone to the salon for a hair cut.
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/delhi-woman-and-her-2-year-old-son-die-after-choking-on-smoke-from-coal-stove-23332367" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Purported CCTV footage</a> also surfaced on social media where one of the victims is seen pleading with the assailants. He was hit in his head by bullets fired from a point-blank rage. In the footage, two women staff of the salon are also seen running away in fear.
A police official said it prima facie appears to be a case of personal enmity, which ensued over an abusive social media post. But the exact reason behind the blood bath will be ascertained once the accused are arrested, he added.
The sources said Dahiya practises law in a Delhi court but it is yet to be verified. Harsh alias Chintu, the brother of jailed gangster Yogesh Tunda, was recently released from prison on bail, the sources said.
At least half a dozen teams of the local police and crime branch have been formed to nab the accused.
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/man-makes-hoax-bomb-call-to-delay-darbhanga-delhi-flight-held-police-23332101" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh</a> said the teams are working to nab the accused. "Certain things will be clear once the accused are arrested," he said.
Meanwhile, a 41-year-old tribal man was allegedly abducted and held captive at a bungalow in Thane district of Maharashtra by a history-sheeter and his accomplices, who also threatened and assaulted him over a land dispute, police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred during the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, an official of Padgha police station, where Santosh Deoo Babar, from Udidpada village in Bhiwandi taluka, lodged the complaint, said.
The prime accused in the case, Yasin Shahnawaz Chikhlekar, is a notorious criminal, who had been externed from several districts, including Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Mumbai city and suburban, and Nashik, for two years from January 2014, he said.
He was booked along with his five accomplices under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 365 (abduction), 143 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the police said.
Chikhlekar abducted the victim from a brick kiln in Tulsi around 11 pm on Thursday. He was then taken to Chikhlekar's office nearby, where he was threatened and subjected to physical and verbal abuse.
As per the complaint, the victim was later held captive at a bungalow overnight and forced to consume liquor and assaulted with bottles.
After being released, Babar sought the assistance of an NGO, which helped him in filing the complaint.
According to police, the accused faces several criminal cases, including attempt to murder. (With inputs from PTI)&nbsp;
