<p>The Western Railway (WR) has announced the running of eight more <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/working-on-makeover-of-mumbais-ac-locals-says-railway-minister-23231009" rel="none">AC local train</a> services starting from June 20. &nbsp;</p>
<p>With the introduction of eight new AC services, the total number of AC <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/down-harbour-trains-wont-stop-at-mahim-for-15-days-23231684" rel="none">services</a> will now increase from 32 to 40.</p>
<p>Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of WR, in a statement said that with the reduction of fares for AC local journey tickets from May 5, there has been a substantial rise in the number of commuters travelling by AC locals. WR had introduced 12 more AC local services from May 16.&nbsp;</p>
<p>"Looking into the demand and the popularity of AC locals, WR will be introducing eight more AC local services w.e.f 20th June, 2022 for the comfort and convenience of the commuters. It is pertinent to mention that these eight services will run from Monday to Friday only. On Saturdays and Sundays, 32 AC services will be available and the remaining eight services will run with non AC rakes," he said.</p>
<p>He further said that out of the additional eight services being introduced, four services each are in UP and DOWN directions. In the UP direction, there is one service each between Virar &ndash; Churchgate, Virar - Dadar, Vasai &ndash; Churchgate and Malad - Churchgate. Similarly, in the DOWN direction, there is one service each between Dadar - Virar, Churchgate - Virar, Churchgate &ndash; Vasai and Churchgate &ndash; Malad.</p>
