Despite local residents’ repeated complaints about an illegal structure near Vijay Fire Road in Chandivli, the authorities are yet to take steps on the issue. This paper had reported on the illegal structure on June 10. The civic body has since sent notices to MHADA, but residents allege that no further visible action has been taken on ground.
The structure was reportedly erected rapidly over the past few months, allegedly without BMC or planning permissions. The residents of Woodland Heights Chs say the complex’s retaining walls have been used to construct the illegal structure. “The structure is so close to houses in one of the wings of our building that their privacy is completely compromised,” said Pramila Jain, a resident.
Frustrated, residents are now preparing to stage a protest today to demand urgent intervention. “The BMC has the power to demolish unauthorised structures at the owner’s expense. How can a structure be erected by MHADA without IOD, commencement certificate, fire NOC, or plan approval from BMC?” questioned Makkar.
