<p>Nanhe Haath Foundation is taking the initiative to turn fitness into building an eco-conscious act. The next run is scheduled for this Sunday (May 4) in Vasai, and will be part of a growing community-building effort. &ldquo;It is a simple way of getting people together. You do not have to run, but you can come along for the conversation about the environment,&rdquo; shared founder Sanjay Vaishnav.&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Singing verses in Spain</h2>

<p>Poetry can take you places, literally. Theatremaker and performer Omkar Bhatkar has been travelling across Spain for the last week performing the works of St John of the Cross. &ldquo;I had performed verses of sant Janabai, St John of the Cross, Shah Abdul Latif and Farid al din Attar in Mumbai last year. This year, The Museum of St John of the Cross in Ubeda, Spain accepted my offer to perform the poems at the museum that houses some of his remains. I will also be performing at the saint&rsquo;s birthplace in Fontiveras, and later on May 11 in Madrid,&rdquo; Bhatkar told this diarist.</p>
<h2>A celebration for Pearl&rsquo;s spell</h2>

<p>Do not be surprised if you hear faint notes of Light of the world echo as you walk down a lane in Colaba this evening. It is not a belated Easter celebration, but a get-together where friends and cast members of the iconic Pearl Padamsee production, Godspell, will celebrate their late mentor. &ldquo;It is a tradition since her passing that we often host a retrospective of her works. This being the 25th year (April 23, 2000), we had held showings of her plays on April 5, 10 and April 15. Today is more of a gathering of friends and cast members to remember her,&rdquo; recalled daughter Raell Padamsee.</p>

<p>Godspell was one of the many iconic plays directed by Pearl Padamsee during her long career as a theatre maker. Created by Stephen Schwartz in 1971, the musical was taken over by Pearl in the 1980s. Recalling the rage of songs such as Day by day and Light of the world, Raell shared, &ldquo;The performers were all mentored, and in a way, evolved with the productions. From Sabira Merchant, Shahriyar Atai and Karla Singh, to Dalip Tahil, Cyrus Broacha and others, many have confirmed their presence. We will also be reaching out to other members who are overseas.&rdquo; Of course, there will also be plentiful food for everyone to tuck in. &ldquo;After all, no celebration would be complete for her without good food. There will be her favourites &mdash; khatta meetha dal and pork vindaloo, to add to the magic,&rdquo; the theatre maker told us.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Last weekend, Dream Marol, the citizen initiative of Nayee Umang Charitable Trust got together with the residents of Marol to clean up the stretch from Marol Maroshi to Marol Police Camp. &ldquo;The entire stretch was littered with rubble from construction work. With the help of over 100 people, we were able to collect almost two tonnes of garbage,&rdquo; Suresh Nair, managing trustee of Dream Marol, said.&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Saransh Goila for Fulham</h2>

<p>It seems like fans attending the next Fulham game in West London might have an Indian flavour on their tongue. This June, chef Saransh Goila will open a new space on the Fulham Pier in London, bringing his signature offerings to the neighbourhood. Set in the vicinity of the Fulham Football Club, the riverside space will combine Indian food with the football experience for fans. &ldquo;It is a proud moment for us, more so, for me being an avid soccer fan. This venue represents more than just food; it symbolises community and culture,&rdquo; Goila said. The chance to visit the stadium is the icing on the cake. Goila shared that he had been in talks for over two years. &ldquo;I could not believe that we had been approached to be in an English Premier League football club.
