The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/hsc-result-2025-hsc-result-declines-by-1-49-per-cent-this-year-girls-continue-to-shine-in-board-exams-23535496" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra State Board's HSC (Class 12) February&ndash;March 2025 examination results</a> reveal a consistent trend of academic excellence across divisions, with Mumbai, Kolhapur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar recording the highest pass percentages.
Pune, while slightly behind in percentage, stood out with a high number of students achieving distinction.
Pune Division:
With 91.32&#37 pass rate and strong first and second class results, the Pune divisional saw 2,44,294 students registered, with 2,42,671 appearing for the exam.
A total of 2,21,631 students passed, securing a pass percentage of 91.32&#37

Nagpur Division: 90.52&#37 Pass Rate with High Second Class Numbers.
Out of 1,52,046 registered and 1,51,116 appeared, 1,36,805 students passed in Nagpur, registering a pass percentage of 90.52&#37.&nbsp;

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Impresses with 92.24&#37 and Over 26,000 Distinctions
With 1,81,759 registered and 1,79,904 appeared, this division saw 1,65,961 pass, achieving a 92.24&#37 pass rate.

Mumbai Division: Tops with 92.93&#37 Pass Rate and Highest Distinctions
<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-weather-updates-thunderstorm-along-with-light-spells-of-rain-gusty-winds-in-parts-of-maharashtra-in-next-4-5-hours-predicts-imd-23535482" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai</a> led in numbers with 3,15,118 registered and 3,14,144 appearing. Of these, 2,91,955 students passed, bringing the division to a 92.93&#37 pass rate--the highest among all divisions.

Despite a smaller student base, Kolhapur stood out with 1,13,889 registered and 1,13,195 appearing.
A total of 1,06,004 passed, pushing its pass percentage to 93.64&#37.

In terms of stream-wise performance for fresh candidates, the pass percentage in Science improved to 97.35&#37 in 2025 from 96.09&#37 in 2023. Commerce rose to 92.68&#37 from 92.18&#37, while Arts saw a dip to 80.52&#37 from 85.88&#37. Overall, the pass percentage decreased from 93.37&#37 in 2024 to 91.88&#37 in 2025, indicating a drop of 1.49&#37.
Board chairperson Sharad Gosavi said that students eligible under the sports, NCC, and scout-guide categories were awarded grace marks according to government rules. A total of 20,943 students benefited from this provision, with grace marks awarded in only one category per student, based on the highest merit.
Board officials added that students who have passed and wish to improve their grades can reappear under the Class Improvement Scheme in June&ndash;July 2025, February&ndash;March 2026, and June&ndash;July 2026, with the option to attempt all or selected subjects. These students, having cleared all subjects in the February&ndash;March 2025 exams, are eligible for up to three chances for grade improvement.
Gosavi added that it is the first time the board has declared the results early, so that those appearing for JEE and NEET have a chance to improve their scores.
Students who wish to verify their marks, obtain photocopies of their answer sheets, or apply for re-evaluation must do so online through the Maharashtra Board website at <a href="https://mahahsscboard.in/" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">https://mahahsscboard.in</a>. Applications for mark verification are to be submitted between 6th May and 20th May 2025.
The verification fee is Rs 50 per subject, payable via debit/credit card, UPI, or net banking. For photocopies of answer sheets, students must apply within five working days of the result declaration and submit online applications between 6th and 20th May 2025. The fee is Rs 400 per subject.
