Five people were arrested with LSD and ganja worth Rs 6.18 lakh in separate operations by the police in Maharashtra's <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/mumbai-police-busts-drug-syndicate-raids-palghar-based-lab-postgraduate-in-chemistry-among-3-held-23564741" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Palghar district</a>, an official said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI.
The Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police made the seizures last week as part of their anti-narcotics campaign, the official said.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), Madan Ballal said, "The Vasai crime branch executed two major operations in Palghar district, and arrested five accused and seized narcotics worth Rs 6,18,442," reported PTI.
Based on a tip-off, a team intercepted two suspects near <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-drugs-worth-rs-10-8-lakh-seized-in-palghar-in-two-separate-incidents-two-arrested-23585895" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Vasai West</a> on September 27, and found 0.440 mg of LSD paper, a synthetic hallucinogenic drug, worth Rs 4.40 lakh in their possession.
The accused Dev Pankaj Modi (27) and Sohel Yusuf Syed (28) were booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Ballal said, reported PTI.
In another operation on September 25, the police raided a premises in Kaman village of Vasai taluka and caught a man and two women with 8.111 kg of ganja valued at Rs 1.78 lakh, reported PTI.
The trio, Sunil Subhash Pawar (38), his wife Asha (35), and Priyanka Santosh Kansare (26), was booked in an NDPS case registered at <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/medical-shop-owner-held-with-drugs-worth-rs-1-69-crore-in-maharashtras-thane-23585784" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Naigaon police station</a>, he said, reported PTI.

In another case, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Friday recovered nearly eight kilograms of cocaine worth Rs 79.5 crore from two female passengers at the Mumbai international airport after the contraband was found concealed in toy packets inside their bags, officials said, reported PTI.
The action was taken based on specific inputs about attempts to smuggle cocaine, they said.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-nigerian-national-held-with-drugs-worth-rs-11-58-crore-in-palghar-23515025" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Mumbai zonal unit</a> of the DRI intercepted two women arriving at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport here from Bangkok, an official said.
During a search of their baggage, the officials recovered 22 brick-shaped packets of a white powdery substance concealed inside the toy packets, he said, reported PTI.
After testing the contraband with the help of the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (NDPS) detection kit, the material was confirmed to be cocaine, weighing 7.95 kg, according to him, reported PTI.
The contraband was seized by the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-drug-burst-two-people-arrested-with-10kg-ganja-in-palghar-23569981" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">DRI officials</a> and both the passengers were placed under arrest, the official, adding that the accused persons were produced before the court, which remanded them in judicial custody.
A probe into the case was underway, he said.
