<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/hollywood-news/article/johnny-depp-not-returning-for-new-pirates-franchise-23257314" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Pirates of the Caribbean</a> producer Jerry Bruckheimer said he would &ldquo;love&rdquo; to have Johnny Depp return to the supernatural swashbuckler film series, reprising his role as Jack Sparrow. During a recent interview, the movie mogul was asked if the former verdict of the news-making defamation trial with Amber Heard would lead Disney to get Depp back in the franchise.&nbsp;

That Depp sued his ex-wife Heard, for libel, and she counter-sued has been extensively reported. The high-profile case played out over several weeks earlier this year, during which Depp stated that Heard destroyed his reputation with her 2018 op-ed in The Washington Post, in which she said that she was a victim of abuse. &nbsp;At the end of the marathon trial, Heard was ordered to pay $10.35 million to Depp. The jury also awarded Heard $2 million in her counter-suit. Earlier this week, his attorneys issued a statement saying that Heard and Depp had settled for $1 million.&nbsp;

Bruckheimer, who produced the five Pirates films starring Depp, said in the interview that he can&rsquo;t speak for Disney as far as the actor&rsquo;s return as Jack Sparrow is concerned. &ldquo;I really don&rsquo;t know,&rdquo; he maintained. He added, &ldquo;I would love to have Johnny in the movie. He&rsquo;s a friend, a terrific actor and it is unfortunate that personal lives creep into everything we do.&rdquo;&nbsp;
When told that Depp &ldquo;hinted that if he were to return, the film should have a clear ending for his character,&rdquo; Bruckheimer was asked if he would ever kill off the character of Jack Sparrow. &ldquo;You can&rsquo;t. We tried to kill him. It didn&rsquo;t work,&rdquo; replied the producer who has also made The Lone Ranger, with Depp, besides films like Pearl Harbor, Remember the Titans, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/entertainment/hollywood-news/article/tom-cruise-leaps-off-a-plane-in-new-video-check-out-why-23261484" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Top Gun</a>, and TV series like Amazing Race and CSI.
